Livestrong / Cancer
On Sunday, April 29, 2012, Team Tropics participated in Sharky’s 10th Annual Ride the Beaches benefiting Livestrong. Our team rode 35 mile and 65 mile courses through the neighborhoods and along the beaches of Venice. The goal was to raise money for Livestrong and the fight against cancer. Sharky’s on the Pier sponsored the event.
Tour de Cure / Diabetes
Every April, Team Tropics participates in the Tour de Cure fundraiser in Lakewood Ranch. Various skill levels takes us on routes of 10, 35, 63, or 100 miles. Fundraising efforts are to stop diabetes and raise awareness for the disease. Our support will make a difference to the 25 million Americans who suffer from diabetes and 79 million people with pre-diabetes.
MDA / Muscular Dystrophy
Team Tropics participates in the MDA Muscle Walk each February. The Muscle walk brings together local families, sponsors, and MDA Supporters to raise money for life saving research right here in our local community!
YMCA / Foster Angels
Each year around the winter holidays, Team Tropics donates gifts to the YMCA Foundation of Sarasota’s Foster Angel Giving Program to benefit foster children in the area (Sarasota & Manatee counties). The gifts provided are often things not covered by state funds, but enhance and enrich the lives of children.
All Faiths Food Bank
Recently Team Tropics collected more than 180 food items (plus $10 cash) in just one week for the All Faiths Food Bank food drive. The program gathers and, in co-operation with our more than 160 partner agencies, distributes food to more than 7,100 people weekly in Sarasota and DeSoto counties every day.
Susan G. Komen For the Cure
Team Tropics beat their fundraising goal in an effort to raise money for Susan G. Komen For the Cure! We raised $1,815 towards the fight against breast cancer. Thanks to fundraising events and sponsors, Susan G. Komen has become the largest source of nonprofit funds dedicated to the fight against breast cancer in the world … and Team Tropics is helping!

While not a fundraiser, Team Tropics cyclists participated in the July 2015 “Wheels & Wings III” ride in Punta Gorda, Florida. For many it was their frist 50 mile ride, cruising beachside along the Gulf waters.
USF Brunch on the Bay
For the past several years, Tropics has reserved a table and participated in University of South Florida’s (USF) Brunch on the Bay. Sharing the belief that education is the single best investment a society can make to drive economic development and impact the quality of life, Tropics supports this fundraising effort to further educational achievement.
Tropics employees can optionally wear shorts every Friday for a $2 donation to charity. Tropics gathers these donations and each year we collectively make a large donation to one, or many, local charities.
Electronic Holiday Cards
While many companies spend hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars each year sending out holiday cards to clients and prospects, Tropics has chosen to send electronic cards while donating what would have been spent on physical cards to a charity.
Center for Building Hope
Tropics is proud to co-sponsor a table at this beautiful event. The Center for Building Hope offers free information, programs and services to cancer patients, caregivers and family members, while connecting them with others who are undergoing a similar experience.
Team Tropics donates to local community organizations that benefit the youth. Most recently sponsoring the Braden River Little League T-ball team.
Individuals from Team Tropics can be found throughout the community doing personal acts of kindness to support the community. The combined solo efforts of our employees are making a noteworthy impact. From volunteer parents supporting local schools to social work supporting families in need, fundraising for local non-profits such as Mote Marine to organized beach cleanup crews protecting the environment–Look around, Team Tropics is everywhere!
Friendships & Fun
Together we have more fun! Tropics employees participate in several non-work related activities such as road biking, mountain biking, boating, walking, and exercising. In 2012 we “got serious” and even purchased team shirts and jerseys (as seen in the image on this page).
Living in the sunshine state only a few miles from the Gulf of Mexico makes having fun pretty easy … and it’s better with friends! Many friendships extend beyond the office creating a dynamic energy!
Company & Employee Donations
Beyond the walls of our offices, company executives and staff are making individual contributions to our community. Our company recognizes the good that these individual efforts make, and the company matches many of the donations dollar-for-dollar.
Friends are the most important ingredient in this recipe of life.
Thank you for your support, encouragement, and dedication!
