Tropics Software Technologies is proud to announce the new Director of Software Development, Robert Sillett. Bob is responsible for the technical direction for the Tropics software platform.

He brings seventeen years of experience in the fields of application development, technology infrastructure, and security. Bob comes to Tropics from Pilgrim Software, where he was Project Director and led the design, development, and implementation of compliance and quality management solutions for the life sciences, healthcare, and manufacturing sectors. Prior to this, he was co-founder of Auricium, a consulting firm focused on mobile applications and security.

Bob will be concentrating his efforts on the new Tropics .NET platform. He has teamed up with the Tropics system designer and recruited consulting help to build a robust .NET architecture for the upcoming versions of Tropics software.

Bob demonstrated the effectiveness of the .NET platform at the Tropics 8th Annual Users’ Conference by unveiling a Loss Prevention proto-type. This was developed using the latest .NET web tools and integration with popular web maps such as Google® map. Bob showed that .NET can be especially effective in scheduling Loss Prevention events from anywhere using a consolidated view of Exchange and Loss Prevention calendars.
