Introducing Tropics® Breeze

Tropics Software Technologies is excited to announce the next generation in the evolution of our industry leading Workers' Compensation Software Suite. Tropics® Breeze combines the rich features and functionality of Tropics 4.x with the advanced features and technologies inherent in a web-based system. Tropics Breeze consists of a comprehensive suite of applications: Policy Administration, Claims Administration, Billing & Accounts Receivable, and Loss Control. The Tropics Breeze applications, which can be implemented as an integrated suite or as stand-alone systems, incorporate best practices in workers' compensation software development, which have evolved over the fifteen-year history of the Tropics organization.

Architecture and Technology

The advanced Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) of Tropics Breeze allows the policy, billing, claims and loss control systems to work together seamlessly or to be easily integrated with existing 3rd party applications already in production at an insurance organization. Through the use of SOA, streamlined exchange of data between applications is made possible. In addition, Tropics Breeze is designed to be deployed in either a traditional or SaaS deployment model. This provides great flexibility to customers relative to workload planning for their internal IT staff.

Tropics Breeze leverages the latest technologies from Microsoft and is built upon the .NET 3.5 framework. A key advantage to using .NET is the ability to seamlessly integrate into an organization's existing Windows/.NET environment. For example, Tropics Breeze leverages single sign-on capabilities, which not only allows access to the Breeze system, but also to the scheduling and email features of MS Outlook and Exchange. Importantly, Tropics Breeze customers have their choice of running the application on either an Oracle or SQL Server database server.

Bringing It All Together

Tropics Breeze continues TST's tradition of providing industry-leading "out of the box" workers' compensation processing functionality. However, for customers with unique needs, the flexibility and configurability of Breeze generally allows the application to be tailored to new requirements without necessitating source code modification. Existing data fields can be renamed, re-tasked, or even hidden. New custom data fields can be created. Add-In applications are integrated into the suite, appear in the menus, and act as a native part of the suite. These applications utilize the Tropics Breeze business logic, data validation, and database security, which is already built into the system, thus reducing implementation time and automatically providing data validation.

Proper analysis of business data is critical to allowing an insurance company to make pro-active decisions based on actual results. The Tropics Breeze Business Intelligence module provides both pre-built reports, as well as ad hoc reporting capabilities to allow clients to have real-time insight into their operational data. Capitalizing on modern, flexible SQL Server Reporting Services® tools, Tropics Breeze customers can create attractive, dynamic reports with drill-down analytics quickly, allowing for a paradigm of rapid data assessment and decision-making. Tying everything together in Tropics Breeze are the integrated Workflow Rules Engine, the centralized Contact Management System, and the Document Generation Engine, with built in Document Management capabilities. The Workflow Rules Engine allows for the addition of automated decision support and workflow within the application. The underlying business objects are exposed, allowing for rules to be created quickly and with a minimum level of effort. The Contact Management System ensures all individual and entity information is only entered into the system one time. Finally, the Document Generation Engine, dynamically creates documents such as policy forms, endorsement forms, claims forms, email messages, etc. The Document System archives both system-generated and externally-generated documents to ensure they are easily accessible for future use.
